To forestall the possibility of bank heist, this Directorate was tasked to develop a web portal, where all the banks get registered and confirm the adoption of security measures laid down by the Home Department. Adoption of these measures are then verified by the local DPOs/ SSPs and endorsed on the web-portal. So far banks of Lahore and Lodhran Districts only have got themselves registered. The frequency of verification of measures by the local police officers is very less. During the period under review 1229 branches of 46 banks were registered on the web portal and 90 branches updated their data. Not even a single police officer verified the data. Team of DOM visited 90 different branches of Banks in Lahore, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi for gauging security arrangements. The situation was not very encouraging. A comprehensive report in this regard was submitted to Home Department.
