Prison Complaint Management

While the prisons in the developed world are fast transforming into correction centres, in our part of the world these are synonym to criminal hatcheries. Reports of mismanagement in prison though less reported are a commonplace; therefore, Government of the Punjab is determined to improve the functioning of prisons. To assess the management and functioning of prisons in Punjab, surprise monitoring/ inspection visits of 41 prisons were conducted. Various aspects related to security, administration and management of the prisons were checked and comprehensive reports highlighting vulnerabilities, snags, shortfalls, etc, were forwarded to Home Department.
